Plot Summary

Most of the characters in 'Kingdom of Heaven' are adapted from historical figures, with Professor Hamid Dabashi from Columbia University serving as the chief academic advisor for the film. In 12th century France, young blacksmith Berion (played by Orlando Bloom) accidentally discovers that he is the long lost illegitimate child of Crusader general Godfrey (played by Liam Neeson). In search of redemption, Balian followed his father to Jerusalem. Valiant and skilled in battle, coupled with noble character, Berion became a renowned warrior after several battles. Not only was he highly appreciated by the king, but the beautiful princess Sibela (played by Eva Green) also secretly admired him. And he was deeply attracted by the unfamiliar and peculiar culture of the local area, but as the battles increased, bringing endless killing and plunder, Berion finally understood the true meaning of peace and the true love of life in his father's teachings. The king of Jerusalem has passed away, and a new king has ascended to the throne. The belligerent new king instigated a war, and Saladin led the Saracen knights to reclaim their holy land - Jerusalem. In times of crisis, Berion stepped forward and vowed to defend the 'Heavenly Kingdom'
