Plot Summary

Walter (Denzel Washington) is a New York City subway dispatcher responsible for controlling the allocation and operation of various lines. One day, a group of terrorists hijacked Metro Line 123. The bandit leader, Red (played by John Travolta), is a former American mercenary who claims to offer a ransom of 10 million to release the hostages. Coincidentally, this amount is the upper limit for the withdrawal of official insurance benefits, commercial loans, etc. The subway line 123 is speeding through the tunnel, with multiple police officers killed and the driver taken hostage.
