Plot Summary

Dom Cobb (Leonardo DiCaprio) and his colleagues Arthur (Joseph Gordon Levitt) and Nash (Lukas Haas) fail in a dream stealing operation against Japanese energy tycoon Saito (Ken Watanabe) and are instead exploited by Saito. Kobu, who was wanted and exiled overseas due to Saito's coercion, helped him break up his competitor's company and took extreme measures to plant the idea of giving up the family company and starting his own business in the deep subconscious of his only heir, Robert Fischer (Cillian Murphy). In order to return to the United States, Cobb secretly sought help from his father-in-law Miles (played by Michael Caine) and recruited young dream designer Ariadne (played by Ellen Page), dream actor Ames (played by Tom Hardy), and pharmacist Joseph (played by Dileep Rao) to join the action. In the layers of progressive dreams, Cobb not only has to deal with Fisher's subconscious instinctive resistance, but also has to face the destruction of his deceased wife Mel (played by Marion Cotillard) everywhere.
