Plot Summary

Salmon expert Dr. Jones (played by Ewan McGregor) works in the UK fisheries department, and his midlife crisis has left him feeling bored and exhausted in life. One day, Dr. Jones suddenly received a seemingly impossible task. A wealthy Yemeni chief contacts Dr. Jones through his young secretary Harriet (played by Emily Blunt), hoping to use Dr. Jones' wisdom to help him achieve his dream of fishing for salmon in Yemen. At the same time, the British government discovered significant political implications in this plan, and the Prime Minister's spokesperson (Kristin Scott Thomas) enthusiastically joined in. As the work progressed, subtle changes occurred between Dr. Jones and Harriet. But what will Dr. Jones and Harriet's choices be when facing their lifelong wife and boyfriend who has returned from war? What changes will happen to this miraculous plan that spans both countries after the UK government joins? Can the chief's dream of fishing for salmon in Yemen succeed? This is a story about love, faith, and choice. This film is adapted from the 2007 novel of the same name by British author Paul Torday.
