Plot Summary

When love faces life, when life faces war. When all beauty is most fragile and vulnerable, the only thing we can do is to struggle for the last bit of hope. Birdsong "tells the story of the male protagonist Stephen Wisford's tumultuous love affair with a French woman, Isabella, before the war, and his military experience six years later during World War I.
