Plot Summary

Jon (Domhnall Gleeson) is a young man who loves music. One day, he accidentally joins a somewhat neurotic underground band whose lead singer and soulmate is Frank (Michael Fassbender) - both a talented genius and a weirdo who wears a big wig all day long. Jon followed the band to a remote cabin in Ireland to record an album, where they lived a nearly isolated life. Over the past year, Jon has been secretly posting their lives in the form of videos on social media. Finally, the band's unique experience caught the attention of a music festival organizer, and Jon convinced the members to travel to the United States to participate in a music festival called SXSW, thus becoming famous. This film is adapted from Jon Johnson's memoir. The band leader Frank in the film is based on Chris Sievey. Chris Sievey was extremely popular in the 1970s and 1980s, and he was also a witty actor known for his comedic image of "Frank Sidebottom". You can still see the shadow of independent musicians such as Daniel Johnston and Captain Beefheart on Frank.
