Plot Summary

In late 18th century New York, police continued to use ancient methods of handling cases, using torture to extract confessions from criminals. Young police officer Ichabo Crane (played by Johnny Depp) believed in scientific methods of handling cases and was therefore ostracized by his peers in the city. He was sent to a small town called Sleepy Hollow to handle a serial murder case. There has always been a legend about the "Headless Horseman" in Sleepy Hollow. It is said that he was a mercenary from the Black Forest who fought for blood. After his head was cut off by the enemy, his lonely soul wandered around Sleepy Hollow. On dark and windy nights, he would ride a fast horse and hold a big axe to cut off the heads of pedestrians passing by. Within two months, three people in the small town have been brutally murdered. Crane moved into the home of the local tycoon Fantaso (played by Michael Gamburn), and he was not impressed by the legend of the "Headless Horseman". However, someone died one after another, and he witnessed the "Headless Horseman" cutting off the head of the town sheriff. He had to believe in the existence of the legend and became determined to uncover the truth. After an investigation, Crane placed the suspicion on Van Tasso, and at the same time, his budding love with Van Tasso's daughter Katrina (played by Christina Richie) was destroyed by the cruel reality.
