Description

Plot Summary

Thornton is a heavyweight boxing champion who retired from the world of boxing after killing his opponent with a fatal blow. He returned to his hometown of Ireland from the United States, where he lived in seclusion and did not care about the world. On his way back home, he met Mary and was shocked. He was ridiculed by the coachman McLean as a hallucination caused by thirst. Mary secretly helped Thornton clean up his ancestral property, and with this expression, Thornton used McLean as a mediator. However, Mary's brother Will obstructed him more. Fortunately, it was thanks to the help of Father Ronald Reagan and Reverend Pfeiffer that they were able to get married. Will liked the widow Tilan, so he married Mary. After the plan was exposed, he became angry and only gave Mary a small dowry. Irish customs are conservative, and Mary believes that withholding a dowry is an insult to her husband, often complaining and demanding it back. However, Thornton has no intention of competing for fame and fortune. Mary thinks her husband is a coward, afraid of being ridiculed by the villagers and wants to escape from his hometown. Thornton drags her back to her parents' home and fights Will fiercely. Will is convinced by the fierce fight, and Mary realizes that her husband is not a coward. She clears her past grievances and makes up as before
