Description

Plot Summary

A subtle sense of immersion, a cold and serious story of conscience, an absolute masterpiece of the world where 15-year-old Igor grew up. Evil is not a big deal, and underground transactions are a normal order. One day, a West African illegal worker hired by his father fell from a building and was in critical condition; My father forced him to bleed to death in order to avoid an official position, and he tried to conceal the truth. Before the hired worker died, Igor made a promise to take care of his lonely child and widow. From then on, his worry free world collapsed, his pure loyalty to his father was lost, and his sense of guilt and justice was both sunny and gloomy. The Dardenne brothers use the current situation in Europe as the plot framework: immigration waves, multi-ethnic coexistence, illegal labor, etc. A simple moral awakening, through strong texture, detail, and smooth hand cranked photography, leads the audience into the world of marginalized people on the Belgian border, and revitalizes the glory of realism.
