Description
Plot Summary
In the Warring States period, the Akizuki family was defeated and declined. The brave general (Toshiro Mifune) led Princess Yukie (Misato Uehara) to flee to a deserted land, attempting to cross enemy lines and carry gold to the allied countries. Coincidentally, they met the greedy poor man A (played by Chikuma) and the poor man B (played by Fujiwara Kamazu), and the two of them joked and laughed incessantly. Under the coercion and temptation of the general, they also embarked on the mission of protecting the princess together. But the enemy general (played by Joe Shimura) relentlessly pursues, and in times of danger, both the princess and the general will face a life or death decision. This film was the main inspiration for George Lucas' creation of Star Wars and has been recognized as one of Akira Kurosawa's most outstanding works since its release.
