Plot Summary

In 17th century Italy, music master SandColumbus (played by Jean Pierre Marielle) was immersed in the pain of losing his wife and couldn't extricate himself. He took his two daughters away from the hustle and bustle and lived a secluded life. Whenever he played the viola in his hand, his wife's beautiful figure would appear in front of him. The handsome and talented young man Males (played by G é rard Depardieu) admires Columbus and learns music from him. He was arrogant and had no interest in the teachings of his master, but devoted himself to becoming a famous musician in Versailles through his skills. The master and apprentice parted ways, and Columbus' eldest daughter Madeline (played by Anne Brochet) followed closely behind her lover Marley. Mahles, who was obsessed with money and money, and was obsessed by luxury appearances, gradually lost his original true feelings. His love with Madeleine was broken, and the girl in a dream, which was once created for his lover, also became unbearable memories... This film won seven awards, including the 1992 French Caesar Award for best photography, best costume design, best movie soundtrack, best sound effect, best director, best supporting role (Anne Brochet), and best film.
