Description
Plot Summary
In the 1960s in Hong Kong, newspaper editor Zhou Muyun (played by Tony Leung) and his wife moved into an apartment with mostly Shanghai residents, and became neighbors with Mr. Chen and his wife Su Lizhen (played by Maggie Cheung), trade representatives of a Japanese company. Because they discovered that their spouses who were working outside had extramarital affairs behind their backs, Zhou Muyun and Su Lizhen began to meet to discuss possible future events and corresponding countermeasures. At first, the two were gentlemen's friends and talked about things like water. But as the days passed, amidst the idle chatter of a group of Shanghai neighbors around them, they found that their spouses' affairs had long left their minds empty, leaving only each other in their eyes. The result of deliberately avoiding the feelings that had already arisen was an even deeper longing.
