Description
Plot Summary
On the Suzhou River in Shanghai, Ma Da (Jia Hongsheng), who uses a motorcycle to deliver goods for people, takes on the task of delivering the innocent girl Mudan (Zhou Xun). While they are together, Mudan falls in love with Ma Da, but just as she decides to entrust her life to each other, Ma Da's financial obsession and gang friends kidnap her, causing Mudan to become disheartened and jump into the Suzhou River. Before jumping, if the peony drops, it will turn into a mermaid and then search for the motor. Five years later, Ma Da, who regretted her actions endlessly, wondered that Mudan had returned and began searching everywhere. When she saw Meimei (Zhou Xun) performing as a mermaid in a certain bar, Mada thought she was Mudan, but Meimei was just another infatuated woman.
