Plot Summary

The American Mafia has a deep foundation and serious harm. In order to eliminate social malpractices, the police launched an attack on the Luches family, one of the five major families, after years of investigation and preparation. Twenty family members, including New Jersey boss Jackie Dinocio (Vin Diesel), were arrested and charged with 76 counts. Before the trial, the prosecution secretly negotiated with Jackie, asking him to choose between facing up to 30 years in prison or serving as a tainted witness to accuse other family members. Jackie would rather go to jail than betray his partner. He refused to hire a lawyer and defended himself and the entire family on his own... The film is adapted from the longest criminal trial of a gang in American judicial history, and the protagonist is Jackie DiNorscio, a legendary gang leader in the 1980s. The plot and dialogue segments are based on court records that were filed 18 years ago. Due to the complexity of the case and the involvement of numerous individuals, the trial lasted for 21 months and set multiple records, including 20 defense lawyers assigned to 20 defendants, 8 rotating juries, and an unprecedentedly long closing statement (one defense lawyer's closing statement was read for 5 days).
