Plot Summary

A political show with a luxurious lineup. Two passionate young people from West Coast University, Arian (played by Derek Luke) and Ernest (played by Michael Pea), were inspired by their idealistic mentor Dr. Stephen Malley (played by Robert Redford) and decided to pursue their life ideals actively. They went to Afghanistan to participate in the war on terror, but these two young people never imagined that the so-called war had nothing to do with human peace and national righteousness, only meant to survive on the battlefield. On the other end closely linked to their fate, the situation in the United States is vastly different. In California, distressed Dr. Stephen Malley tries to use the example of Arian and Ernest's war to persuade his student Todd (played by Andrew Garfield) not to give up political studies, but Todd completely opposes Dr. Stephen Malley's radical ideas. In Washington, thousands of miles away, presidential candidate and senator Jasper Irving (Tom Cruise) discovers himself embroiled in a political conspiracy. He is preparing to reveal shocking insider information about the Afghanistan war to television reporter Janine Roth (Meryl Streep), which could directly affect the fate of Arian and Ernest who are fighting on the front lines.
