Description

Plot Summary

In the mid-16th century, the British ambassador to France was assassinated, and the deceased was the uncle of the young British king Henry VIII (Jonathan Rhys Meyers). This made the king extremely angry and immediately summoned his ministers to prepare troops for France. However, Cardinal Volkin (played by Sam Neill) weighed the interests of all parties and did not support the Anglo French conflict. Therefore, he tried his best to have the English and French kings resolve the matter through negotiation. Due to Queen Catherine giving birth to only one daughter for Henry VIII, she gradually fell out of favor. Henry VIII always harbored resentment towards this and sought pleasure within the court. However, what truly moved Henry VIII was a female attendant named Anne Boleyn (played by Natalie Dormer), who was stunningly beautiful and voluptuous, almost driving him insane. In order to marry with a clear matchmaker, Henry VIII conspired with Bishop Walkin to divorce the queen, which immediately involved multiple interests such as diplomacy and religion. During this period, the spread of heatstroke caused nationwide panic, and a palace shake also followed
