Plot Summary

Randy Robinson, nicknamed "The Hammer" (played by Mickey Rourke), was a shining star in the American independent wrestling circle in the 1980s. He left behind countless classic matches, and his ultimate move "The Hammer Smashes and Presses" won over many passionate wrestling enthusiasts. But with the rapid development of the industry and the decline in physical health, the era of being a "sledgehammer" has long passed. Out of his love for wrestling, Randy never left this circle. He endured financial difficulties and pain, just to enjoy the great joy brought by every show with the wrestling fans he had accompanied for many years. He stubbornly pursued the last glimmer of glory, but his private life became worse and worse. Years of running around have led to a strained relationship with his daughter Stephanie (played by Evan Rachel Wood), and the intense impact and constant consumption of prescription drugs have brought his heart to the brink of collapse. Lonely, he can only find some brief comfort from the stripper Cassidy (Marisa Tomei) after every tough competition. Due to health reasons, Randy has decided to quit the wrestling industry, take on a stable job, and regain the warmth of his family. But the manager planned a classic rematch for the 20th anniversary. In order to pursue his lifelong passion for wrestling, his passionate and devoted fans, and his long-standing commitment, Randy has finally returned to the arena...
