Plot Summary

In 1978, Liu Muxing, who felt guilty for committing atrocities during the Vietnam War, returned to South Korea and believed in God. In order to cleanse himself of his sins, Liu devoted himself to spiritual cultivation and organized villagers to raise funds to buy land for preaching purposes. Detective Qian Yongde (played by Zheng Zaiyong) suspects that Liu Muxing is actually a fraud and persecutes him. However, he is soon moved by Liu and the two take several criminals to a remote place to seek redemption. 25 years later, the place where Qian, Liu, and others settled has developed into a well-organized village. Liu Mu was executed by torture, and Liu Haiguo (played by Park Hae ri), Liu's son, rushed to Seoul for his funeral. However, the villagers did not seem to welcome Liu Haiguo and constantly hoped for him to leave. Liu Haiguo was suspicious and advocated for an autopsy on his father. At the same time, he found that the land and money that originally belonged to his father had been transferred to Qian Yongde's name. Liu Haiguo sought the assistance of prosecutor Park Min wook in the investigation, while the village woman Yingzhi secretly observed Liu Haiguo.
