Plot Summary

Joachim is a successful television screenwriter living in Paris. On the morning of his 40th birthday, he decided to give up everything - children, friends, enemies, love, and regrets - to go to America and start from scratch. Afterwards, he led the "New Burlesque" troupe back to his hometown for a tour. The members of the erotic dance troupe are full of longing for Paris, France because of Joachim. The humorous performance and the curvaceous figure of the stripper left men, women, and children addicted. Despite the mediocre hotel she stayed in, the lackluster elevator music (musique d'Ascenseur) used, and the lack of funding, the actress still created a novel, enthusiastic, and joyful atmosphere. However, their decision to perform the finale in Paris shattered their dream of reaching the climax of the tour: Joachim's old "friend" betrayed him and canceled his scheduled acting venue. The trip to Paris seems destined to come and go in a hurry, and all the sad memories of the past are suddenly revealed Joachim, a former Parisian television producer had left everything behind - his children, friends, enemies, lovers and regrets to start a new life in America. But he returns with a team of New Burlesque strip-tease performers whom he has filled with romantic dreams of a tour of France, of Paris! Traveling from town to town, despite the cheap hotel rooms and lack of money, the curvaceous showgirls invent an extravagant fantasy world of warmth and hedonism that wins an enthusiastic response from men and women alike. But their dream of a tour culminating in a last grand show in Paris goes up in smoke when Joachim is betrayed by an old friend and loses the theatre where they were due to perform. An obligatory return journey to the capital violently reopens the old wounds of his past...
