Plot Summary

In a remote area called Xigu, a case of a mother killing her son shocked the whole country. Next door to the parties involved lived a couple named Tosuke Ozaki (played by Nobumasa Osi) and Yoko Kanako (played by Yoko Maki), who, despite the noise outside the door, were decadent and confined to their own small world. Not long after, Ozaki was taken away for questioning by the police on suspicion of adultery with a female suspect and inciting murder, and Kanako was the informant of the incident. Weekly reporter Kazuhiko Watanabe (played by Nanpeng Ohmori) is tasked with following up on this case. Through multiple investigations, he discovers that 15 years ago, during his high school years, Ozaki was a promising baseball star, but was forced to drop out of school due to a certain incident. He continued to delve deeper, learning about many unknown pasts and truths of the parties involved, and gradually became aware of the extremely subtle connection between Ozaki and Kanako. Love and hate intertwine into a ball, unable to be cut, and the logic is still chaotic, ultimately unable to understand what kind of emotions are involved... This film is adapted from the original work of the same name by Shuichi Yoshida and won the eighth place in the 2013 Japanese Film Weekly Top Ten Films.
