Description
Plot Summary
This drama is adapted from Thomas Mallon's novel of the same name, featuring elements of love story and political thriller, documenting the fickle romantic history between two completely different men who meet in the shadow of Washington during the McCarthy era. Hawkins Fuller is a handsome and charismatic man who maintains a lucrative behind the scenes job in the political arena. Hawkins always avoided getting involved in emotional entanglements until he met Tim Laughlin, a young man full of idealism and religious beliefs. At the beginning of their relationship, Joseph McCarthy and Roy Cohen declared war on "subversives" and "perverts," ushering in one of the darkest periods in 20th century American history. In the past 40 years, Hawkins and Tim have met on various occasions - Vietnam War protests in the 1960s, disco hedonism caused by drugs in the 1970s, and the AIDS crisis in the 1980s. At the same time, they are facing heavy obstacles from the world and themselves.
