Description

Plot Summary

Adapted from Shakespeare's works, Ethan Hawke from "Boyhood", Ed Harris from "Snowy Train", Mira Jovovich from "Resident Evil", Dakota Johnson from "Fifty Shades of Grey", the play "Cymbeline" was selected for the Horizon section of the 71st Venice Film Festival. The play itself was controversial and, as a comedy of Shakespeare's later period, was written around 1610-1611. This story about "love, betrayal, and revenge" is regarded as a classic masterpiece by those who like it, while those who dislike it believe that the plot is arranged in a chaotic and tangled manner. In the film, Cymbelin (Ethan Hawke), as the leader of the Speed Gang, engages in constant gunfire with the police. At the same time, his daughter Imogen (Dakota Johnson) fights for his honor and life, while his wife and son plot to occupy his drug empire. The film was released at the Venice Film Festival, and Variety magazine praised the actors' performances, as well as the slightly melancholic visuals and scene design. Regarding the adaptation of Shakespeare's works after Hamlet, director Almeida stated that Shakespeare's works have always been a source of inspiration for filmmakers. "Check Shakespeare on IMDB, he has been cited more times than any screenwriter.
