Description
Plot Summary
Costa Gavas' political film department is extremely strong, and the 18+ban on this film is the director's personal interpretation of a real event that happened in Uruguay in the early 1970s. A US AID official (whose usual task is to serve as an advance team to train local police officers in suppressing riots in the target country) was kidnapped and murdered by local guerrillas. After investigation, it was found that he was originally a special envoy of the US government to interfere in local internal affairs. Despite being tortured by guerrillas to extract confessions, he did not confess the truth and was subsequently killed. In addition to this main storyline, the film also depicts the confrontation between left-wing guerrillas and the Uruguayan government.
