Yeah!!! A great spanish film about a satanic cult directed by Jose Ramón Larraz. Plenty of creepy and atmospheric moments and a lot of nudity and sex scenes. With the beauty Helga Line making a sinister and pervert role. Black Candles has a reputation as one of Larraz’s worst films mostly likely because it’s one of the more blatantly sleazy pieces in his filmography. It tends to be as much softcore porn as horror, though Larraz still creates enough of a creepy atmosphere to make it interesting. English dubbed. “When most genre fans hear the name Jose Ramon Larraz they come to expect a certain amount of sleaze. With films like "Vampyres" and "Violation of the Bitch" he got his reputation and there is no doubt that "Black Candles" was going to follow the same pattern, but does that mean that it'll be good Well recently I got to view "Black Candles" as part of a double feature on the DVD "Welcome to the Grindhouse" from Deimos Entertainment. The movie stars Helga Line and Vanessa Hidalgo and defiantly delivers in the sleaze department, but unfortunately that's about all it delivers in.
