Plot Summary

Middle aged woman Bessie (played by Diane Keaton) spends most of her life taking care of two elderly relatives: her father Marvin, who has suffered a stroke, and her eccentric aunt Ruth. Now, Bessie herself has also suffered from leukemia, and her only hope for survival is that someone from her close relatives provides bone marrow. Helpless, Bessie had to contact her sister Li (played by Meryl Streep) whom she hadn't been in touch with for 20 years. Li is a single mother who doesn't want to meet with Bessie, but she thought of using this opportunity to temporarily put aside the troubles caused by her son Hank (Leonardo DiCaprio) setting fire at home, so she took her son back to her hometown in Florida. The sisters were in good mood when they first met, but after a long time, all kinds of unhappiness in the past began to cause trouble.
